About Me…
The summer of 1984, I experienced a devastating breakup. I hit rock bottom face down! The pain was unbearable! I was broken open to my core.
A Course in Miracles tells us,
T-2.III.3:5. Tolerance for pain may be high, but it is not without limit. 6 Eventually
everyone begins to recognize, however dimly, that there must be a better way. 7 As this
recognition becomes more firmly established, it becomes a turning point.
Intolerable pain was my turning point. I got down on my knees and prayed from the depth of my being,
God, please get my mind right!
I got help. I got support. Metaphysics found me. Unity church found me. I have studied Metaphysics diligently since 1984. I have studied A Course in Miracles since 2014.
Why did I write this book?
Long story short, June 2004, I was living in Houston, Texas when my Daddy was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease. At that time, I owned a Salon/Barber Studio, a nice home, and my dream car. But after Daddy’s diagnosis, nothin’ meant nothin.’ I knew I was “called” to go home to Denver to be there for my precious Daddy.
In 2007 I moved back home to Texas. However, although I was once again in Texas, I could not get my footing. Then one day, I remembered Oprah said, “I asked God to use me,” so I wrote a goal asking God to “use me” and read it daily.
April 2009 at Daddy’s memorial repast two people came up to me, one right after the other, and said with an urgency, “You should write a book!” Daddy was a Black Cowboy and Farrier; he was authentic and charismatic. My brother and his best friend Bill Parson made a fabulous video of Daddy which was entertaining and fascinating showcasing Daddy with his horses, Daddy rodeoing, and Daddy horseshoeing. I assumed they were suggesting I write a book about my Daddy, so I considered writing a coffee table book about Daddy.
But when I started writing I knew, I was supposed to write a book to heal my life. Daddy’s book became “this” book, A “Secret of Life!”
A Course in Miracles tells us,
T-8.III.5 The goal of the curriculum, regardless of the teacher you choose, is “Know thy-Self.” There is nothing else to seek. Everyone is looking for himself, and for the power and glory he thinks he has lost.
